Gregory M. Askew, Sr., was born February 9, 1962, to the late Rev. George P. Askew, Sr., and Mrs. Katie Askew. He is the youngest son of four children. After graduating from Northside High School in 1980, he attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He later completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Memphis (1995), earning a Bachelor of Science in Education. In December 2000, Bishop Askew earned a Master of Science Degree in Counseling from the University of Memphis. During his internship, which preceded this degree, he received extensive training specializing in the areas of Marital & Family Systems, Suicide/Death & Dying, and Domestic Violence counseling.

Bishop Askew is known for his academic achievements, compassion, wisdom, and unwavering faith, which have guided him personally and professionally.
Bishop Askew received his call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ at nineteen and has been an ambassador of that glorious message for over forty-four years. In 1981, he became a member of Temple of Deliverance under the leadership of (Apostle) Bishop GE Patterson. In 1995, the late Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson appointed him as the Assistant Pastor of Temple of Deliverance. God's preparation was complete after twenty-one years of faithful service to Bishop Patterson.

In December 2001, Bishop JL Maynard, the Jurisdictional Prelate of Tennessee Fourth, appointed him as pastor of Jubilee Church of God in Christ. Under his leadership, Jubilee has grown to over six hundred active members. The Jubilee Church is a beacon of light in the Raleigh-Bartlett area of Memphis, TN.
During the challenging economic trials of 2010 through 2013, Jubilee COGIC, under Pastor Askew's leadership, led a free feeding program that provided food for the hungry. Thousands of Memphians and people from surrounding cities benefited from the free food given daily. Jubilee Ministries is also celebrated worldwide through the Livestream Broadcast, Facebook Live, YouTube Live, and YesLordRadio.com, where the message of salvation through Jesus and hope is spread worldwide through this media. Jubilee Church employs over fifteen full-time and part-time employees to facilitate all the demands of a growing and progressive ministry. Bishop Askew's leadership has not only grown the church but also made a significant impact on the community, providing hope and sustenance during difficult times.

Bishop Askew's commitment to the Church of God in Christ at the State and National levels is unwavering. He has been the YPWW President and Chairman of the TN 4th Jurisdictional AIM. From 2000 through 2005, he worked as the Assistant General Secretary of Information Technologies under the auspices of the late Elder AZ Hall, Jr., General Secretary. He has also been a National Adjutant in the Church. Bishop Askew serves as an Administrative Assistant to Bishop JL Maynard of the Tennessee Fourth Jurisdiction, Superintendent of the UE Miller Memorial District, and Jurisdictional Overseer. His loyalty and dedication to the Church are a cornerstone of his life's work. Askew was Consecrated to serve in the office of "Bishop" in the Church of God in Christ on January 13, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky with an Auxiliary Designation

He is a devoted husband and is married to Dr. Ruby Holland Askew who shares this journey of life, love and ministry eagerly looking forward to the next chapters of unlimited victories in Christ.
